About Us

The Flower Folk is a petite home based floral design studio nestled on the banks of the Murray River in Moama, New South Wales. Led by owner and creative director Makaila, creating abundant and romantic floral moments is our specialty. With nineteen years experience in the industry encompassing retail, corporate and events floristry including flowering hundreds of weddings, Makaila has become recognised as a respected professional within the floral realm. This experience combined with her relaxed nature, extensive knowledge and adoration of flowers has cultivated a beloved reputation for The Flower Folk studio.

Inspired by nature’s playful textures, symphony of vibrant hues and momentary beauty. We love collaborating with our clients bringing your floral dreams to life in a way that is uniquely perfect, for you. Whether it be a birthday celebration, corporate event, elopement or large scale wedding we adore creating whimsical floral displays of all kinds.

Priding ourselves on being sustainably focused we are diligent in remaining as environmentally friendly as possible within our craft. We achieve this by avoiding the use of any toxic floral foam within our designs. Instead we create with degradable materials and reusable mechanics. We make every effort to purchase locally grown seasonal flowers. This includes supporting growers right here in the community of Echuca/Moama as well as many other flower farmers across wider Victoria. With this ethos in mind we also choose to use naturally dried elements in our creations and avoid using dyed, bleached or chemically preserved flowers within our work.

 FAQs

  • We offer local delivery on Thursday and Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

  • Delivery within 15 kilometers of Echuca & Moama is $10.

We also deliver to our surrounding towns of Lockington, Rochester, Nanneella, Tongala, Kyabram, Torrambury, Gunbower, Mathoura and Barmah. Rates are determined by distance and can be found at the checkout page of the website.

  • Being a regional based florist we don’t have immediate access to our growers and wholesalers. Our Melbourne wholesalers have a midday cut off limit for any regional orders to be placed. Then the flowers are packed and shipped overnight not arriving to Moama until mid morning. Because of this limitation as well as the freight costs to ship the flowers we prefer to place one large order per week for all the flowers we need. This allows us to in turn, not waste any blooms and keep our flower prices as reasonable as possible without factoring in multiple freight costs per week. This being said we also use our lovely local growers, however they also run busy businesses around their families and also need some lead time to be able to pick and deliver their blooms to our studio.

  • There is occasions where we may have an excess or extra flower order planned, so if you do need a last minute delivery please contact us at hello@theflowerfolk.com.au and we will always accommodate when we are able.

  • Unfortunately we cannot guarantee the exact colour or variations of ANY flower, plant or product used in the arrangements. All-natural products are subject to differences, environmental impacts and no two products will ever be the same. We will substitute if necessary to make your arrangement as gorgeous as possible. If you would like something specific it is best to give as much notice as possible so that there is enough time to source the florals.

  • You can expect your fresh blooms to last between 3-7 days. Flowers will always last longer if they are well looked after. The Flower Folk is not responsible for lack of care once delivered, such as not placing in fresh water or a spike in temperature. During the hotter summer months vase life will vary during extreme heat. If you have a problem with the quality of your florals, you MUST contact us within 24 hours & if necessary, we will send you a replacement. Please note- after 24 hours no flowers will be replaced. We won't take any responsibility for flowers that are left out in extreme weather.

  • If there is nobody home to accept the delivery, it will be left in a safe spot at the specified address wherever possible, if we do need to re deliver there will be another fee. Please note- we will not take any responsibility for flowers left out in extreme weather.

  • Where the incorrect delivery address has been given or we cannot access the property due to locked gates or apartment blocks there will be a re delivery fee charged. If they are not at the address and you would like the driver to deliver to a different address, then please organise this with us directly. We do ask that you respect the drivers and the time each delivery takes them. They cannot wait at any address as they are on a tight schedule. If the delivery is to an apartment block, we recommend making sure we have access code & a mobile number. Please ensure you fill out the recipient contact and delivery details correctly and ensure you put a recipient mobile number in case there is any issues with the delivery.

  • Our bouquets and arrangements are usually made fresh in the morning and delivered after 12pm and by 5pm. We can never guarantee an exact time on deliveries but if given enough notice we will certainly try to accommodate any requests. We recommend making note of this in the recipient details form or by contacting us directly at hello@theflowerfolk.com.au.

  • Once you have received your flowers, remove any ribbons and wrapping but leave the twine around the stems as this will hold your carefully crafted bouquet in place! Using a sharp knife, florist snips or secateurs, at an angle cut approximately 2 cm from each stem. Pop your bouquet into a vase of fresh room temperature water, with flower food if provided. Remove any leaves or foliage that fall below the water line to prevent bacteria building up more quickly. Place the flowers out of direct sunlight and away from heating or cooling vents. Recutting the stems and changing the water every two days as well as removing any dead or wilting flowers from the arrangement, will ensure all of the blooms have the longest lifespan possible.
